THE FOUNDER
paul barker
is the founder of enter engineering
Having left school at 15, like many young people, Paul wasn’t sure what to do next. He had heard good things about engineering and decided to start an apprenticeship. Following his apprenticeship, Paul worked as a skilled engineer on the shop floor for a year before studying full-time for a degree in mechanical engineering.
He then spent a decade as a technical design engineer in the coal mining industry before taking a role as an engineering lecturer, teaching both full-time students and apprentices. From there, he was promoted to Engineering Curriculum Manager, then went on to become Head of Sales and Recruitment for Apprenticeships at a large college group in East Lancashire.
During this time, Paul worked closely with both manufacturing employers and training providers, helping them find the right engineering talent. He met countless individuals with huge potential—but he also saw the challenges. Many skilled engineers were unaware of the opportunities available to them, while colleges and businesses struggled to attract the right talent.
Paul launched Enter Engineering to bridge this gap—helping manufacturing SMEs, colleges, and training providers connect with the best engineering talent. By understanding both industry needs and the education sector, Enter Engineering sources professionals who can drive innovation in manufacturing and inspire the next generation of engineers. Whether it’s senior engineers ready for leadership, junior engineers looking for career progression, or industry professionals transitioning into teaching, Enter Engineering is here to help.
